When you install Windows 2000 on a computer with an Iomega Jaz or other removable media drive, you may receive a message during text-mode Setup that a file cannot be copied because it is damaged or missing. If you attempt to skip the file, you may receive the same message for each file Setup tries to copy to your hard disk.
CAUSE
This problem occurs because the Jaz or other removable media drive has a higher drive letter than the partition to which Windows 2000 is being installed. For example, the following drive layout causes this problem:
Disk 0 with partitions or volumes of C:, E: Disk 1 Jaz drive with a partition or volume of D:
Installing Windows 2000 to the E: volume results in this problem occurring.
RESOLUTION
To work around this problem, remove the cartridge or Jaz drive from the computer during Windows 2000 Setup.
STATUS
