The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Server
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Datacenter Server
This article was previously published under Q221096 SYMPTOMS
After you start your Windows 2000-based computer to safe mode with network support, you are unable to access resources on NetWare networks.
CAUSE
This issue occurs because safe mode with network support does not start either Gateway Services for NetWare (GSNW) or Client Services for NetWare (CSNW).
STATUS
This behavior is by design.
MORE INFORMATION
GSNW and CSNW are Microsoft NCP Client providers and redirectors that run as services on Windows 2000-based computers to provide connectivity to NetWare networks. Safe mode with network support is designed to load a minimal set of drivers and services necessary for troubleshooting and network connectivity to Microsoft networks.
