BUG: Cube Metadata Does Not Indicate a Cube Needs to Be Reprocessed (220979)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft SQL Server OLAP Services 7.0
This article was previously published under Q220979
BUG #: 371 (plato7x)
SYMPTOMS
In certain situations, the metadata display for a cube with new measures or dimensions will show a processed date and time when it should show "Not Processed" or "Needs Processing."
CAUSE
The metadata view of a cube in the OLAP Manager is not automatically refreshed after a cube is edited. After a change, the cube metadata display shows the original cube information.
When the metadata view is refreshed by clicking Refresh from the Action menu, the new dimensions and measures still shows. However, the Processed attribute of the cube shows the previous processed date and time instead of a "Not Processed" or "Needs Processing" status. At this point, the cube must be reprocessed to reflect the changes made in the cube editor.
NOTE: The cube status on the database metadata view accurately shows a status of "Structure Changed".
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in SQL Server OLAP Services version 7.0.
