SUMMARY

This article describes how to add other Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-ins, such as OLAP Services, Internet Information Server (IIS), Transaction Server, and so forth, to the SQL Enterprise Manager MMC.

MORE INFORMATION

By default, the "Sql server enterprise manager.msc" file sets the MMC console to user-mode. This means that other snap-ins cannot be added. You will only find Options and Exit menu items on the Console menu.

If you open the MMC shell in author mode, you can add additional snap-ins. To open the MMC shell in author mode, follow these steps:

  1. From the Console menu, click Options, and then click Always open console in author mode.
  2. Exit, and then reopen the SQL Enterprise Manager MMC.

To add a snap-in at this point, follow these steps:
  1. On the MMC menu, click Console, and then click Add/Remove Snap-in...
  2. Select the snap-in that you want to add from the list of available snap-ins. Note that you can specify the location where the snap-in appears with the Snap-in added to: drop-down box.
