Control Panel Displayed Instead of Internet Options Dialog Box (220895)

SYMPTOMS

When you click Internet Options on the View menu in Internet Explorer, Control Panel may be displayed instead of the Internet Options dialog box.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you are using Compatibility mode and you are attempting to view Internet options for your previous version of Internet Explorer.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.

MORE INFORMATION

When you install Compatibility mode, some of the features and dialog boxes are not available. For example, security zones settings are different in Internet Explorer 5 than in Internet Explorer 4, and to prevent any confusion, Control Panel is displayed instead of the default Internet Options dialog box.
