OL2000: ESC Key Does Not Close Open Item (220699)

When you press the ESC key to close an Outlook item, such as a mail message or contact item, the item does not close.
CAUSE
You clicked Customize on the Tools menu after opening the Outlook item, and then pressed ESC to close the Customize dialog box.
RESOLUTION
Click Close in the Customize dialog box. You can then press ESC to close the open item.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
