NetBIOS LANA number settings not preserved during upgrade (220651)

SYMPTOMS

Following an upgrade from a previous version of Microsoft Windows NT to Microsoft Windows 2000, the NetBIOS LANA number settings have changed from their previous settings.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because LANA number settings are not preserved during an upgrade to Windows 2000.

RESOLUTION

To work around this problem, if a specific LANA number setting is required for NetBIOS communication, it must be manually reconfigured by the administrator. To resolve this problem, contact Microsoft to obtain the Lanacfg.exe utility.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows 2000.
