AutoOpen macro fails to run opening document in browser (220532)

This article was previously published under Q220532 SYMPTOMS When you open a Microsoft Word document by using Microsoft
Internet Explorer and the document contains an AutoOpen macro or a
Document_Open event procedure, the AutoOpen macro or the Document_Open event
procedure fails to run. CAUSE You may have the Microsoft Windows "Browse in same window"
feature turned off. WORKAROUND To work around this problem, use one of the following
methods: Method 1: Select the "Browse in same window" check box.- In Microsoft Windows Explorer, on the View menu, click Folder Options.
- On the File Types tab, scroll through the list of file types to find and select Microsoft Word Document.
- Click Edit.
- Click to select the Browse in same window
check box.
- Click OK.
- Click OK.
- On the File menu, click Exit to quit Windows Explorer.
Method 2: Open the document in Microsoft Word. Start Word and open the document. The AutoOpen macro or
Document_Open event procedure should run.
