WD2000: Graph Chart Linked to Table Is Not Updated Automatically (220527)

SYMPTOMS

After you make changes to a table in Word 2000 that has been linked to a Microsoft Graph Chart, the chart is not automatically updated.

CAUSE

This functionality is by design. The Microsoft Graph Chart is an embedded object, not a linked object. Embedded objects are not updated automatically in Microsoft Word.

WORKAROUND

To update the Microsoft Graph Chart, double-click the chart object. After the chart object opens in Microsoft Graph, the linked data sheet is updated from the table in your Word document. After the datasheet has been updated, the Graph Chart Object is also updated.
