SYMPTOMS

When you try to fax a document with Cheyenne BitWare, a new blank Word document is opened.

CAUSE

Cheyenne BitWare is not correctly installed for use in Microsoft Word.

RESOLUTION

To correct this problem, copy the Bitware.dot template to the Templates folder and then install the BitWare macros. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. On the Windows Start menu, point to Find and then click Files or Folders.
  2. On the Name & Location tab, type Bitware.dot in the Named box. Change the Look in box to your local hard disk (for example, C:) and then click Find Now.
  3. After Find has found the Bitware.dot template, right-click the file and click Copy on the shortcut menu that appears.
  4. On the File menu, click Close.
  5. Right-click the Windows Start button and click Explore on the shortcut menu that appears.
  6. In the Windows Explorer, select the following folder:

    C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates

  7. Right-click the selected folder and click Paste on the shortcut menu that appears. The Bitware.dot template is now copied to the Templates folder.
  8. Start Microsoft Word.
  9. On the File menu, click Open.
  10. In the Open dialog box, change the List files of type box to Document Templates (*.dot). Also, change the Look in box to the following folder:

    C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates

  11. Click to select the Bitware.dot template and click Open.
  12. On the Tools menu, point to Macro and click Macros.
  13. In the Macro name list, click to select Install.Main and click Run.

NOTE: You might have to repeat the above steps several times to save the BitWare Send Fax button on the toolbar in Word. If the macro does not work the first time, close Word and repeat the above steps.
