WD2000: Unable to Delete Contacts from Address Book (220501)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to delete a contact or personal address from your Outlook 2000 Address Book using the Insert Address button in Word (on the Tools menu, click Envelopes and Labels), the following message may appear:

Are you sure that you want to permanently remove the selected user(s) from this Address Book?

When you click Yes, the contact or address is not removed.

NOTE: You may or may not receive this message. In either case, the contact or address is not removed.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, you can remove the contact from within Outlook 2000.

To remove a contact while in Outlook 2000, do the following:
  1. Go to your Contacts folder.
  2. Click to select a contact.
  3. On the Edit menu, click Delete.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
