SYMPTOMS

When you save a document that contains a table where the Allow row to break across pages check box is cleared, and you then reopen this same document, the Allow row to break across pages check box is now selected.

CAUSE

This behavior may occur if you initially save your document as a Web Page (*.htm; *.html) file type, and then reopen the document in Word.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, follow these steps:
  1. Start Microsoft Word, and then reopen your *.htm file.
  2. Click anywhere in the table.
  3. On the Table menu, click Table Properties.
  4. In the Table Properties dialog box, click the Row tab.
  5. Click to clear the Allow row to break across pages check box, and then click OK.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Word 2000.
