The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Word 2000

This article was previously published under Q220459

SYMPTOMS

If you perform a paste operation while a portion of a table is selected that contains merged cells, one of the following error messages may appear.

GPF in module MSO9.DLL at 015f:308cfad5

-or-

GPF in module WINWORD.EXE at 015f:300b307b

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, do one of the following.
  • Do not include any merged cells in your selection before you paste into a table.
  • Place the insertion point in a single cell rather than selecting several cells, a column, or a row when you paste into a table.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

Word 2000 includes new functionality that allows you to paste text or objects into multiple cells of a table at one time. Under certain difficult-to-reproduce circumstances, a general protection fault (GPF) occurs if a merged table cell is included in the cells that are to be pasted into. Pasting into the merged cells themselves will let you work around this problem.
