WD2000: Incorrect Paragraph Number Cross-Reference with Track Changes (220449)

SYMPTOMS

When you have paragraphs formatted for Outline Numbered (on the Format menu, click Bullets and Numbering) and the following conditions are true:
  • You use Track Changes to track revisions.
  • You have a cross-reference to a numbered paragraph.
  • You delete the paragraph that is cross-referenced.
  • You update the Cross-reference field.
the cross-reference may be incorrect.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, you can remove and re-insert the cross-reference to the correctly numbered paragraph.

  1. Select the incorrect cross-reference, and then press DELETE.
  2. On the Insert menu, click Cross-reference.
  3. In the For which numbered item list, select the properly numbered paragraph.
  4. Click Insert, and then click Close.
