WD2000: CPU Usage Increases When You Use Language AutoDetect (LAD) (220439)

SYMPTOMS

When you are working in Microsoft Word, if you have the Detect language automatically (LAD) option selected and several languages selected in Microsoft Office Language Settings, the central processing unit (CPU) usage of your computer system may increase to 100 percent on some computers.

NOTE: To select the Detect language automatically check box, on the Tools menu, point to Language, and then click Set Language.

WORKAROUND

To work around this performance problem, turn off the Detect language automatically feature in Microsoft Word. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. On the Tools menu, point to Language, and then click Set Language.
  2. In the Language dialog box, click to clear the Detect language automatically check box.
  3. Click OK.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
