WD2000: Word 5.1 for the Macintosh Document May Cause Illegal Operation (220411)

After you open a Word 5.1 for the Macintosh document, the following error message may apear:
This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down.
If the problem persists, contact the program vendor.
When you click Details, the following error message appears:
WINWORD caused an invalid page fault in module WINWORD.EXE at 015f:<address>
This problem may occur in either of the following cases:
Case 1
When you move your mouse pointer over the area where a picture is contained.
Case 2
When in print preview, you double-click in a blank area surrounding a picture. CAUSE
This problem is caused when your Word 5.1 for the Macintosh document contains a PICT picture. Internally, Word converts the PICT picture to WMF format, and the "Enable click and type" feature in Word may conflict with the PICT conversion.
WORKAROUND
Turn off the " Enable click and type" option using the following steps:
- On the Tools menu, click Options.
- On the Edit tab, click to clear the "Enable click and type" check box.
- Click OK.
