SYMPTOMS

When you save a Microsoft Word document in one of the following formats
  • Word Perfect 5.0 (*.doc)
  • Word Perfect 5.1 for DOS (*.doc)
  • Word Perfect 5.x for Windows
and the document contains a Joint Photographic Experts Group (JPEG) or Graphics Interchange Format (GIF) image, if you reopen the file in Word or open it in WordPerfect, the image is turned upside down and mirrored. The image quality is also degraded. For example, the clarity and color may not match the original image quality.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, save the file in either Rich Text Format (RTF) or Word document format. To do this, select one of the following file types in the Save As dialog box:
  • Rich Text Format (*.rtf)

  • Word 6.0/95 (*.doc)
  • Word Document (*.doc)
