WD2000: Bidirectional Language Document Displays Text Formatted for Engrave (220266)

SYMPTOMS

If you open a document that was created in an earlier version of Microsoft Word using a right-to-left (bidirectional) language, such as Arabic or Hebrew, the text is formatted for Engrave.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, follow these steps:
  1. Select the text that is formatted for Engrave.
  2. On the Format menu, click Font, and then click the Font tab.
  3. Under Effects, click to clear the Engrave check box.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Word 2000.
