WD2000: Word-Created HTML Table Is Wider in Internet Explorer 5 (220216)

When you create a Web page in Word that contains a table, the table is wider when viewed in Internet Explorer 5.
CAUSE
This behavior is by design of Internet Explorer 5 and later. Internet Explorer 5 adds table padding to a table cell's width setting.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, you can use the following method. - Open your Web page in Word.
- Click in the table whose width you want to modify.
- On the Table menu, click Select Table.
- On the Table menu, click Table Properties.
- On the Table tab, click to select the Preferred width check box.
- Enter the width you want in the Preferred width text box.
- From the Measure in list box, select Inches.
- Click OK.
- On the File menu, click Save as Web Page to save the changes.
- On the File menu, click Web Page Preview.
The table should be the exact width you specified in Word.
