The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Word 2000

This article was previously published under Q220194

SYMPTOMS

When you insert a table into a text box, one of the following may occur:
  • The left table border is missing.
  • The table is flush left inside the text box.

WORKAROUND

To correct this behavior, do one or more of the following appropriate for your situation:

Reapply the Table Border

Usually, after you start working with the table (for example, adding text to the table), the left table border appears. However, if the table border does not reappear, do the following steps to reapply the table border to the table:
  1. Place the insertion point into any cell of the table.
  2. On the Table menu, point to Select and then click Table.
  3. On the Format menu, click Borders and Shading.
  4. On the Borders tab, select and apply the type of border you want for this table, and then click OK. For example, click to select Grid (located under Setting).

Indent the Table

Use the following steps to move the table away from the left edge of the text box:

NOTE: By default, earlier versions of Microsoft Word indent the table 0.08-inches from the left edge of the text box.
  1. On the Table menu, click Table Properties.
  2. On the Table tab, change the Indent from left box to 0.08" (0.08-inches) and then click OK.

STATUS
