FP2000: Hyperlink Rollover Effects Available Although You Turn Off CSS 1.0 (220033)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft FrontPage 2000

This article was previously published under Q220033

SYMPTOMS

When you turn off the CSS 1.0 option on the Page Options dialog box, you can still select Enable hyperlink rollover effects on the Background tab in the Page Properties dialog box (on the File menu).

NOTE: To turn the CSS 1.0 option on or off, on the Tools menu, click Page Options. On the Compatibility tab, under Technologies, select or clear the CSS 1.0 (formatting) check box.

RESOLUTION

Do not use hyperlink rollover effects if the Web browser that is used to view the Web page does not support CSS 1.0.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

When you are developing Web pages, you might want to restrict certain features because they might be incompatible with your target audience's browsers. FrontPage allows you to turn off cascading style sheets (CSS) for browsers that do not support it. However, the rollover effects use CSS 1.0 and do not function correctly if the target audience is not using a browser that supports it.
