When you create a drop-down menu in a form and you add a choice, the value field is blank.

If you want to specify a value other than the value of the choice for the drop-down menu, you must select the Specify Value option. To do this, follow these steps:
- To view its properties, double-click your drop-down menu.
- Click to select the choice item you want to specify a value for, and click Modify.
- Select the Specify Value check box, and click OK.
The value column for the choice item now contains the same text.
Click OK. NOTE: The value of the drop-down choice is automatically submitted when a form is submitted. This value does not appear in the HTML but does appear in the form results.
