SYMPTOMS

When you press and hold down CTRL and click the mouse (CTRL+click) on a hyperlink to an Internet Web site, in normal view, you may receive an alert that states that the Web server is down, or that FrontPage cannot open the Web server.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when Internet Explorer version 4 or earlier is installed, and your local area network (LAN) uses a proxy server.

FrontPage does not use the Internet Explorer proxy settings with Internet Explorer 4 or earlier.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, use the FrontPage proxy settings. To add your proxy to FrontPage, follow these steps:
  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  2. Click the Proxies tab, and then type the name of the proxy server in the HTTP Proxy dialog box.
  3. Click OK.
If you do not know the name of your proxy server, please contact your network administrator for details.
