FP2000: FrontPage Does Not Preserve the <NoEmbed> Tag (219890)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft FrontPage 2000

This article was previously published under Q219890

SYMPTOMS

If you use the <NoEmbed> tag within the body section of your Web page, FrontPage changes it to the following:

<noembed>Message for browser without plugin support.</noembed>

NOTE: Any way you type the <NoEmbed> tag, the case will be changed to lowercase.

CAUSE

This tag is not stored in FrontPage as a standalone tag but rather is converted to a parameter of the <embed> tag. As such, it has no preservation mechanism.

RESOLUTION

If you must use a format other than what FrontPage uses for the <noembed> tag, you can type your code using the HTML Markup component. To use this component, follow these steps:
  1. Open your page.
  2. On the Insert menu, point to Advanced, and click HTML.
  3. Type your code in the HTML Markup dialog box, and click OK.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
