FP2000: Frameborder Value of "No" Changed to Zero After Manually Editing HTML (219866)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft FrontPage 2000

This article was previously published under Q219866

SYMPTOMS

When you create a frames page and edit the HTML to add the "frameborder=no" attribute, FrontPage does not preserve your HTML.

The "frameborder=no" is changed to "frameborder=0".

CAUSE

The correct value according to HTML specifications as decided by the World Wide Web Consortium is one (1) or zero (0). FrontPage preserves your custom HTML. In this case, FrontPage changes the "No" value to the value of zero (0).

RESOLUTION

If you must use the value of "No" for the frameborder attribute, you must edit and save the frames page in a text editor, such as Notepad. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. In Page view, right-click the frames page, and click Open With.
  2. In the Open With Editor dialog box, click to select Text Editor (notepad.exe), and click OK.
  3. In Notepad, change the frameborder value to "No" (without the quotation marks).
  4. On the File menu, click Save.
  5. Close Notepad.
NOTE: If you open the page in FrontPage, FrontPage changes the value of frameborder to zero.
