Import Wizard does not import navigation structure information in FrontPage (219768)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft FrontPage 2000
- Microsoft FrontPage 2002
- Microsoft Office FrontPage 2003
This article was previously published under Q219768 SYMPTOMSWhen you use the Import Wizard to import an existing Web
with a navigation structure into a newly created Web in Microsoft FrontPage,
the navigation structure is not imported and appears to be lost.CAUSEThe Import Wizard only imports existing content and
regenerates the configuration information files that are required for a
FrontPage Web. The Import Wizard was designed to import non-FrontPage-related
content into your Web.
- If the Web that you are importing is disk-based, the Import
Wizard does not import the navigation structure configuration file
(structure.cnf) that is located in the _vti_pvt folder.
- If the Web that you are importing is server-based, the
wizard cannot access the _vti_pvt folder from a remote location.
RESOLUTION If the Web that you are importing was created by using
FrontPage, use the Publish command on the File menu to copy the Web to the
destination location. This keeps the navigation structure intact.
