SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to modify the style of a page that is linked to a Cascading Style Sheet (CSS), you will not see any attributes listed in the Class list of the Modify Style dialog box.

RESOLUTION

To modify the styles originating from the Cascading Style Sheet (CSS), you must open the .css file in Page view, and then modify the styles. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. In Folders view, double-click the .css file.
  2. On the Format menu, click Style.
  3. In the Styles list, click the style to modify, and then click Modify.
  4. After you have changed the style, click OK to return to the Style dialog box.
  5. Repeat steps 1 through 4 as many times as needed.
  6. Click OK, and then click Save on the File menu.
With the Modify Style dialog box, you can modify the classes defined in the STYLE tag of the current page. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. In Folders view, open the page that you want to change.
  2. In Page view, right-click the page, and then click Page Properties.
  3. In the Page Properties dialog box, click Style.
  4. In the Modify Style dialog box, click the class to change.

    To add a class, type the new class in the Class list.
  5. Click Format, and then change the desired attributes.
  6. Repeat steps 1 through 5 as many times as needed.
  7. Click OK, and then save the page.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

You can override the style attributes defined in a style sheet by using the Modify Style dialog box on the page for which you want to change the style.

For example, if you want the entire web to have a certain font, such as 10 point Verdana, but you want one page to have the font of 10 point Arial, you can use the Modify Style dialog box to define 10 point Arial for that particular page.
