FP2000: Marquee Does Not Appear on Page with Shared Borders (219706)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft FrontPage 2000

This article was previously published under Q219706

SYMPTOMS

After you place a marquee on a page with shared borders with no other text on the page, the marquee does not appear when you preview the Web page in your Web browser.

Note: This does not count text that is in the shared border regions of the page.

CAUSE

The width of the table that is created by the shared borders is dependant on the width of the table contents. If you have not set a specific pixel width on the marquee, or you do not have other content to determine the size of the table cell, the table cell will default to a single pixel.

Although the marquee defaults to a width of 100%, it can only fill the table cell that it is in. If the table cell is a single pixel, the marquee will not display.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, use one of the following methods.

Method 1: Add Some Text To the Same Area as the Marquee

To add some text to the same area as the marquee, follow these steps:
  1. Open the page with the marquee in Page view of FrontPage.
  2. Before or after the marquee, in the same content area, type some text.
For Example: Thank You for visiting my Site!
  3. Save the page.

Method 2: Specify a Width in Pixels For the Marquee

To specify a width in pixels for the marquee, follow these steps:
  1. Open the page with the marquee in Page view of FrontPage.
  2. Double-click the marquee to open the Marquee Properties.
  3. Click to select the check box next to Width and type the width in pixels that you want the marquee to be.
  4. Make sure the In Pixels option is selected, and click OK.
  5. Save the page.
