FP2000: Insertion Point Is Moved to Next Line When You Press DELETE at End of Line (219692)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft FrontPage 2000

This article was previously published under Q219692

SYMPTOMS

When you move the insertion point to the end of the last word on a line and press DELETE, the insertion point is moved one line down, and the middle paragraph is deleted.

CAUSE

FrontPage 2000 interprets pressing DELETE the same as pressing SHIFT+RIGHT ARROW+DELETE. When you press SHIFT+RIGHT ARROW, the end of the first paragraph and the beginning of the second paragraph are selected. FrontPage expands the selection in the empty paragraph to include the end of the paragraph as well as its beginning. The initial paragraph is split, and FrontPage deletes the second paragraph (because the selection has been extended to completely contain it).

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, press BACKSPACE instead of DELETE.
