FP2000: Some Information Not Retained When Inserting File (219574)
The information in this article applies to:
This article was previously published under Q219574 SYMPTOMS
When you insert a file by clicking File on the Insert menu, some of the information from the inserted file is not retained. For example, information stored in the <HEAD>...</HEAD> element-- such as cascading style sheet instructions or scripting code--may be removed when the file is inserted. You may see incorrect formatting or receive scripting errors when you view the page in preview mode or in a Web browser.
Note that this information is not removed from the original file; it is only removed from the information that is inserted into the current file.
CAUSE
This is a design implementation of FrontPage. Everything outside of <BODY>...</BODY> is removed from the file when it is inserted.
RESOLUTION
To retain the complete contents of the original file, use the appropriate method for your situation.
Method 1: If You Don't Have a Web Open
Open the file by clicking Open on the File menu. If you only want some of the information from the original file, use a copy and paste operation after opening the file to move only the information you want.
Method 2: If You Have a Web Open
Import the file into your Web. To do this, follow these steps:
- On the File menu, click Import.
- Click Add File.
- Select the file and click Open.
- Click OK.
