The FrontPage Personal Web Server is removed after you uninstall a previous version of FrontPage from a computer that has FrontPage 2000 and FrontPage versions 1.1, 97, or 98.
CAUSE
In earlier versions of FrontPage, the FrontPage Personal Web server is a component of FrontPage. By removing the previous version of FrontPage, the uninstall program will also remove the FrontPage Personal Web Server.
RESOLUTIONMethod 1: Reinstall the FrontPage Personal Web Server
To reinstall the FrontPage Personal Web server and run the Detect and Repair feature of FrontPage, follow these steps:
- Insert your FrontPage 98 compact disc into the CD-ROM drive, and start FrontPage 98 Setup.
- Perform the installation as you normally would. Type your name and registration information and accept the end-user license agreement when you are prompted to do so.
- When you are prompted to choose the type of setup you prefer, click Custom. Click Next.
- Click to clear each check box, and make sure that FrontPage Personal Web Server is selected.
- Continue with the installation. Type a user name and password when you are prompted to do so.
- When setup is complete, start FrontPage 2000.
- On the Help menu, click Detect and Repair.
- Click Start.
Method 2: Make Sure the \Content Folder is Present
Make sure that the following folder is present on the hard drive:
<x>:\FrontPage Webs\Content
where <x> is the drive letter of the hard disk you originally installed the FrontPage Personal Web server.
Once you have made sure that the folder is present, reinstall FrontPage.
