FP2000: Office Specific File is Saved to the FrontPageTempDir (219119)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft FrontPage 2000

This article was previously published under Q219119

SYMPTOMS

If you open an Office specific file that is stored in a FrontPage web and use the Save As command in the originating Office application to save the file, the default folder location will be a FrontPage specific temporary directory. Microsoft does not recommend that you store files in the FrontPage temporary directory.

CAUSE

When FrontPage opens a file for editing, the file is copied from the web that is open to a temporary directory. The copy in the temporary directory is the one which is edited.

MORE INFORMATION

If you choose to save the file (using the Save command, not the Save As command) from the application you are using to edit it, return to FrontPage. The file will be imported back to the original web server.

If you want to specify another location, use the Save As command. Microsoft recommends that you choose a different location to store your files, so you can locate them easily at some other time. Using the Save As dialog box, you can select any directory your computer is capable of locating.

For more information about saving files, click Microsoft FrontPage Help on the Help menu, type Save in the Answer Wizard, and then click Search to view the topic.
