This article was previously published under Q219118 SYMPTOMS
When you drag and drop a database file from one FrontPage Web to another, the database connection is not automatically made by FrontPage.
CAUSE
When you use the drag and drop method to move files from one FrontPage web to another, FrontPage copies the files between the two webs. For FrontPage to automatically set up the database connection, the database must be imported into the web, not copied.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this behavior, use either of the following methods:
Method 1: Manually Create the Database Connection
To manually create the database connection, follow these steps:
- Open the web that does not have the database connection configured.
- On the Tools menu, click Web Settings.
- Click the Database tab.
- Click Add.
- In the Name box, type the name to identify the database.
- Click Browse.
- Click to select the database from the list, and click OK.
- Click OK again.
- To verify the connection, click Verify.
Once the database is verified, there should be a green check mark in the status column next to the connection name. - Click OK
Method 2: Import the Database
To import the database, follow these steps:
- Open the web you want the database to reside.
- On the File menu, click Import.
- Click Add File.
- Select your database from your computer, and click Open.
- Click OK.
- When you are prompted to create a new database connection, click Yes.
- When you are prompted to import the database into the fpdb folder, click Yes.
