FIX: ROLLUP and CUBE Return Incorrect Summary Values If Column Has CASE Expression (219060)

SYMPTOMS

If a SELECT statement contains a CASE expression, and that CASE expression contains a comparison with an integer, the ROLLUP and CUBE operators may return incorrect summary values.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, change the CASE expression to compare characters instead of integers.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in SQL Server version 6.5. This problem has been corrected in the Post Service Pack 5a Update for Microsoft SQL Server version 6.5. To install the Post Service Pack 5a Update, you must have either SQL Server 6.5 SP5 or SP5a installed.
