SUMMARY

There are a number of scenarios in which an administrator may see multiple permission entries in the Access Control Editor tool's Advanced dialog box for names that appear only once in the simplified dialog box. This is by design, and reflects the underlying access control model.

MORE INFORMATION

Multiple permission entries appear for a single name when the following conditions exists:
  • One of the items is in an inherited Access Control Entry (ACE) and cannot be edited, and the other item is directly applied to the current object.
  • The two items have a different application range. For example, one item may apply to only one folder and the other may apply to only files.
