PUB2000: Parenthesis Typed in the Numbered List Box is Lost (218652)

SYMPTOMS

If you create a numbered list using the Indents and Lists dialog in Microsoft Publisher, and type a parenthesis after the number in the Start At box, and click OK to close the dialog box, a parenthesis will not be used as the separator in the numbered list within your publication.

Similarly, if you press TAB after you type a parenthesis in the Start At box of the Indents and Lists dialog box, a parenthesis will not be indicated in the Separator list. The separator will also be incorrectly displayed in the Sample box.

NOTE: This only occurs with the parenthesis, all other list separators update correctly and display in the Sample box.

WORKAROUND

Select the parenthesis in the Separator list and then select the desired starting number in the Start At box.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Publisher 2000.
