SQL Server Not Detected During OSE Setup (218270)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Office 2000 Server Extensions

This article was previously published under Q218270

SYMPTOMS

When you install the Office Server Extensions (OSE), the setup program does not detect Microsoft SQL Server on the computer.

CAUSE

You are using a version of SQL Server older than version 6.5.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, install SQL Server version 6.5 or higher prior to installing the Office Server Extensions.

MORE INFORMATION

Office 2000 Server Extensions require SQL Server 6.5 or higher. If you are running an older version of SQL Server, you must upgrade prior to installing the Office Server Extensions. The Office Server Extensions will install the Microsoft Data Engine (MSDE) in order to provide needed functionality if setup does not detect SQL 6.5 or higher. MSDE is a subset of SQL Server 7.0.
