RAS "Auto-Redial" and "Redial on Link Failure" May Not Function in SBS (218102)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft BackOffice Small Business Server 4.5

This article was previously published under Q218102

SYMPTOMS

The Remote Access Server Auto-Redial feature and the phonebook Redial On Link Failure option may not function on BackOffice Small Business Server (SBS).

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because both the Auto-Redial feature and the Redial On Link Failure option require the Remote Access Autodial Manager service, which is disabled by default on SBS.

MORE INFORMATION

To ensure that the Microsoft Proxy Server Autodial feature works properly in SBS, the Remote Access Autodial Manager service is disabled. Microsoft does not recommend that the Remote Access Autodial Manager service be enabled if your Internet connection is configured to use the dial-on-demand feature.
