Error Message When Restarting Computer with Fax Jobs in Queue (217922)

SYMPTOMS

After you restart a computer running Small Business Server (SBS) 4.5, one or more fax jobs remain in the fax printer queue with the following status:
Couldn't send fax due to an unrecoverable error.
You cannot resume or restart the fax jobs, but you can cancel them. The fax jobs remain in the queue without interfering with new jobs.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs when you shut down a computer running SBS 4.5 and a fax job is still in the queue.

RESOLUTION

To remove the stalled fax job:
  1. Click to highlight the fax job in the Fax Printer window.
  2. On the Document menu, click Cancel.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in BackOffice Small Business Server 4.5.
