Canceling Outlook Install in OC Manager Prevents Installing in the Future (217914)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft BackOffice Small Business Server 4.5
This article was previously published under Q217914 SYMPTOMS
After you attempt to install Microsoft Outlook by using Optional Component (OC) Manager and you stop the operation before it is finished, you cannot install Outlook by using the Add/Remove Programs tool in Control Panel. When you do so, you receive no error messages but Outlook does not appear to be installed.
After the client installation is finished and your client is connected to the server running BackOffice Small Business Server (SBS), if you use the Add/Remove Programs tool in Control Panel to install Outlook under Microsoft BackOffice Small Business Server, you may be prompted to reboot the computer, but the client computer does not reboot whether you click Yes or No.
CAUSE
When you cancel the installation in OC Manager, Outlook continues the installation process and is successfully installed. Clicking Cancel while OC Manager is installing a program does not cancel the current installation process.
STATUS
This behavior is by design.
