Err Msg: "Wangimg.exe Has Been Changed or Moved" Opening Fax Document Viewer (217907)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft BackOffice Small Business Server 4.0
- Microsoft BackOffice Small Business Server 4.5
This article was previously published under Q217907 SYMPTOMS
When you run Fax Document Viewer on a BackOffice Small Business Server (SBS) client computer running Microsoft Windows 98, the following error message may be displayed:
The item 'Wangimg.exe' that this shortcut refers to has been changed or moved. The nearest match, based on size, date, and type is <Filename>. Do you want this shortcut to point to this item?
NOTE: Filename is the name of the file that Windows 98 is trying to match to the shortcut.
CAUSE
This behavior only occurs on SBS clients that have been upgraded from Microsoft Windows 95 to Windows 98.
SBS clients running Windows 95 have WangImaging Viewer installed with the Fax client. When you upgrade a client to Windows 98, WangImaging Viewer is deleted and replaced with the Kodak viewer, Imaging for Windows. However, the link to Fax Document Viewer (WangImaging) is not deleted.
RESOLUTION
To work around this issue, perform either of the following: - Double-click a fax document (or any file in the .tiff format) to start Imaging for Windows. (SBS faxes are stored in a .tiff format. In Windows 98, the .tiff format is associated with Imaging for Windows.)
- Manually open Imaging for Windows, (Click Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories, and then click Imaging), and then open the fax document for viewing.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Windows 98.
