Naming Conventions for Exchange Distribution Lists (217899)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft BackOffice Server 4.5
This article was previously published under Q217899 SUMMARY
When using the BackOffice Server Manager console to create a distribution list, restrictions are placed on the naming conventions for the mailbox name. To ensure the list will be accessible from the Internet, special characters are not allowed in the distribution list when using this wizard. To create a distribution list using special characters that will only be accessed on your intranet, use Exchange Administrator to create the list.

For information on creating the Exchange distribution lists, see chapter 4 of the Exchange Administrator's Guide.
