Remote Install Client Prompts for CD-ROM During Installation (217893)

During the installation of a remote installation client (RIS), Setup may prompt you to insert the CD-ROM (even though the client computer may not have a CD-ROM drive).
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if the RIS installation share has the string "CDROM" embedded. For example:
Server\Reminst\Setup\English\Images\Win2000.cdrom
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, remove the image from the server and re-create the share without "CDROM" in the path:
- In Microsoft Management Console (MMC), open the "Active Directory Users and Computers" snap-in.
- Find the remote installation server in question, right-click it, and then click Properties.
- Click the Remote Install tab.
- Click Advanced Settings.
- Click the Images tab.
- Delete all the images that correspond to the directory structure that contains the "CDROM" string in the path. There may be more than one image using the same path. You can check this by selecting an image and clicking Properties.
This deletes only the template file associated with the image, not the directory structure. Use Windows Explorer to delete the subdirectory and all files in the path.
Once this has been completed, use Risetup.exe to re-create the image without using the "CDROM" string in the path.
