OFF2000: Invalid Page Fault in AOL After Installing Microsoft Office 2000 (217480)

SYMPTOMS

After you install Microsoft Office 2000 and attempt to start America Online, you may receive the following error message:

WAOL caused an invalid page fault in module msvcrt.dll at 015f:78001230.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur when the following conditions are true:

You installed America Online Preview Version. This preview version is included with Microsoft Windows 98.

-and-

The version of the Msvcrt.dll file that AOL installs is overwritten during the installation of Microsoft Office 2000.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, do one of the following:

Obtain and install an updated version of America Online.

-or-

Use the Microsoft System File Checker tool to restore the original Windows 98 version of the Msvcrt.dll file.
