SYMPTOMS

When you send faxes on computers that run Windows 95 or Windows 98 to a large number of fax recipients or use a distribution list with a large number of recipients, you get a message that indicates the following:
Microsoft Fax Server Client: Insufficient memory to complete operation.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because resource allocations inside the Windows 95 and Windows 98 Operating Systems are limited to handle these types of variables, and as a result only 35 fax address entries can be accommodated with these types of clients.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, use a distribution list with 35 or fewer addresses or, because this is not a limit on Windows NT clients, send faxes with a large distribution from a Windows NT client.

MORE INFORMATION

When you send faxes on computers that run Windows 95 or Windows 98 to a large number of fax recipients, or use a distribution list with a large number of recipients this is sometimes called a broadcast fax.

When you reach this limitation by using the fax client for Small Business Server 2000, in addition to receiving an undeliverable message in Outlook, you may receive the following error message:
The Microsoft Shared Fax transport failed to deliver the message to this recipient. The message body cannot be printed.
