This article was previously published under Q217370

SYMPTOMS

When you configure the Take Control System Controller (TC1000) to learn infrared (IR) codes from a Mark Levinson product remote control, you may experience any of the following symptoms:

  • The buttons for the learned IR codes may not work properly.

  • The controller may stop responding (hang).

CAUSE

The behavior can occur because Mark Levinson product remote controls emit a weak signal that the TC1000 may be unable to detect.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

  1. Remove the cover on the bottom of the TC1000 to expose the IR port used for learning.
  2. Position the TC1000 approximately one inch from the working remote control.
  3. Start the Take Control Editor, and then click Devices.
  4. Click Add New Device.
  5. Click to select a device category, and then click Continue.
  6. Click to select Brand Unlisted, and then click Continue.
  7. Click to select the buttons in the list that you want to add.
  8. Follow the instructions on the screen to learn the IR codes from the buttons on your device's remote control.
