Outlook Express includes the ability to run the Windows Address Book as a separate program. If you have multiple copies of the Windows Address Book, you can use command-line switches to gain access to address books that are not the default address.

The available switches are:
  • No switches - Opens the default address book.

    Example: Click Start, click Run, and type wab

  • /Open - Displays a dialog box to select an address book file

    Example: Click Start, click Run, and type wab /open

  • /New - Displays a dialog box to specify a new address book file

    Example: Click Start, click Run, and type wab /new

  • File name - Opens the specified address book file

    Example: If your Windows Address Book is named Test.wab and is located in the C:\Program Files\Outlook Express folder, click Start, click Run and type: c:\program files\outlook express\test.wab

  • Folder name - Displays a dialog box to select an address book file from the specified folder

    Example: If your Windows Address Book is named Test.wab and is located in the C:\Program Files\Outlook Express folder, click Start, click Run, and type c:\program files\outlook express
