XFOR: MMC Quits Unexpectedly When Accessing Remote Server (217065)

SYMPTOMS

If you use the Internet Service Manager that is included with Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) 4.0 to connect to a remote server, and then attempt to expand the server branch in the left pane or view the properties for the server, the Microsoft Management Console (MMC) may quit unexpectedly or an access violation may occur. Note that you expand the server branch by double-clicking the branch or by clicking the plus sign (+) to the left of the branch.

RESOLUTION

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to computers that are experiencing this specific problem.
