This article describes how to change the "Reply To" address in Outlook Express and Internet Mail and News. The "Reply To" address is the address you want replies to your e-mail sent to when that address is different from the account that you are sending the e-mail from.

To change the "Reply To" address, use the appropriate method:

Outlook Express for Windows

  1. Start Outlook Express, and then click Accounts on the Tools menu.
  2. Click the Mail tab, click the appropriate mail account, and then click Properties.
  3. In the Reply address box, type the appropriate e-mail address, and then click OK.

Outlook Express for Macintosh

  1. Start Outlook Express, and then click Preferences on the Edit menu.
  2. Under Accounts, click E-mail.
  3. Click the appropriate mail account, and then click Advanced.
  4. In the Additional Headers box, type the following text:

    Reply-to: name and e-mail account name

    where name and e-mail account name is the name you want to appear on the From line of your replies, followed by a space, and your e-mail address for replies.

Internet Mail

  1. Start Internet Mail and News, and then click Options on the Mail menu.
  2. Click the Server tab, and then click Advanced Settings.
  3. In the Reply To box, type the e-mail address for replies, and then click OK.
