SYMPTOMS

When you post discussions to a Web document, you are only able to see the discussion posted by you. No other discussions show up.

CAUSE

You are not using the correct discussion server.

RESOLUTION

Make sure all clients are using the same discussion server.

MORE INFORMATION

When multiple clients are engaged in a document discussion, each client has the ability to select a discussion server. Each client also has the ability to configure multiple discussion servers for use with the same document. The issue here is that each client has chosen a different discussion server, when they should be accessing the same discussion server.

To change discussion servers, do the following:
  1. On the Web Discussions toolbar, click Discussions.
  2. Click Discussion Options.
  3. Click Add.
  4. Point to the URL of the hosting discussion server. This should be in the form of a URL (for example: http://example.microsoft.com). If you do not use "HTTP://," it will be appended to the URL automatically.
  5. Give your discussion server a friendly name. One word names keep it simple.
  6. Click OK.You should now be able to see all the existing discussions.
  7. Click Refresh Discussions to see the discussions that have been added since you last opened the page.
You should now be able to see all discussions.
